Do you ever feel like your body, reactions, and emotions aren't fully your own — especially in what feels like high-stakes moments?
Maybe you've fully intended to respond one way, only to find your calm, grounded self overtaken by something faster and more automatic. This could be due to prolonged high stress, trauma, or systems of oppression. The loss of control can be disorienting and frustrating. I get it.
Our past experiences shape how our bodies and minds perceive and respond to the world around us — often outside our conscious control. I take a holistic approach to working with this type of disregulation, working with the body and the emotions, not just the story, using tools like EMDR, art, and mindfulness to help you ground and move through difficult experiences.
Together, we'll work to rebuild a sense of safety, help you become reacquainted with your own body, and develop your capacity to manage the intensity of memories and sensations when they come up. A central part of this work is helping you build genuine compassion for yourself.
Our more intense experiences aren't always stored in places where language can reach them. That's why I use EMDR and creative expression as nonverbal ways of processing — bringing understanding at the level of emotion, body, and nervous system, rather than relying on words alone. Trauma recovery isn't about erasing the past; it's about learning to integrate it with your present self and figure out who you are now.
I offer a supportive space to do this difficult and meaningful work — a place to pause, explore, and build up your own backpack of survival strategies.
